We're NOT placing orders. We're playing around with the idea of eventually placing orders.
Geez Marshall, lighten up. We're all supporters of Elio. I know we're not placing orders right now and that we're playing with the idea of eventually placing orders. That's pretty obvious. I was responding to the notion that the configurator makes it difficult to color match body paints/wraps with interior panels and carpeting. I'm not sure why you seem to be taking this thread so personally.

I'm sure they'll have a better sampling system in the Retail Stores.
The Configurator that we're using now is a "Beta" more or less; they stated when it first came out that they would be making changes to it multiple times before it ever goes into actual use.

The problem is for us there is no retail store, they will not have them until we are driving ours.

Following this thread I have to wonder how many of the people on here have ever really "ordered" a new car.
By that I mean, gone on line and looked up all of the options and then gone in and told the salesman .... This is what I want, and these are all of the options I want, and these are a list of the dealer installed options I want. Oh, and I don't want the standard tires, I want these instead. Then waited the six to eight weeks for the vehicle to arrive at the dealer.
Sounds like a lot of people want to go to a dealer and pick one off the lot.

Last new car I bought was my tacoma. I had to wait because I ordered one with crank windows and no remote entry. I was surprised that one had to be reserved and brought up special from the factory that was about 60 miles away. The dealership tried to find one at another dealer but no one had any. I only had to wait a few days.

I ordered my smart back in 2007 and waited a full year for it to arrive from France. There were no smart dealers at the time I ordered my car. My experience in buying the smart sight unseen and ordering options -- based solely on my faith in the vehicle and having seen the previous generation in Europe and the new generation online -- is directly relevant to the Elio. I'm hoping it will be as positive an experience as with the smart.

Mine was late in the model year.
Couldn't get manual windows, stick shift, and they didn't understand why I didn't want crew cab (only extended), had to have window tint as dealer option, also Ranch Hand grill guard.
Manual windows are great for getting good elevation for long shots.
