How about a dash like the 2015 Corvette
<<FF to 3:00>>
The diverted attention required to flip through the screens while driving is much too similar to the attention needed to text.
IMO, this sucker is unsafe. Because you know if it's there to be used (while driving) it WILL be used (while driving).
Nice to know these things will be coming down the road toward me powered by 400+ horses.

Thanks a lot GM.

That's the kind of thing I envision coming from major auto manufacturers. Rather than a complete "roll your own", they would provide a series of options and variants from which you could select. I just don't see any manufacturer providing consumers access to the API to completely wipe out and replace the entire display with your own.

There's an easy fix. Just make it adjustable only when in park just like the starter. Once started, the display is locked in until placed in park again.

I totally agree with that.
Kinda like rear door auto-locks engage once the vehicle starts moving.

But...

I don't think there's a mfg. out there who's going to take your suggestion.
Making mode changes available only in park would kill the desired functionality of the dash.

The Elio Automatic (actually, the Aisin MC5) does not have a park. Guess that doesn't work.

Also, never liked the automatic door locks or the seat belt warning buzzer. (Wonder how much extra those cost?)

Any extra cost for safety features is money well spent........could save $1000's in accident caused medical expenses and or lives for that matter.
