Why The Prototypes Have To Wait On The Engine

I didn't care much about the engine start event delay and think it was EM caused not IAV caused, but doesn't matter. I was just responding to speculatiion with more speculation and suddenly you have a string of posts that don't seem to connect. I have to stop with the replies. Ooop's, there I did it again!

All that really matters at this point in time is a news release saying "The eagle has landed"!

Wait for engine checks....Wait for funding....Wait for helmet laws.....wait for definition of "autocycle" be defined for insurance coverages...Wait for final proto-type to be tested with the engine...Wait for " Robotics" that make the Elio to be fine tuned...Wait for all those "Pep Boys" to be trained in putting a three wheelers on the lifts...Wait for 1500 plant workers to get settled in their new work positions....Wait for the Dealerships to be in place where the Elio's will be sent....Wait for board of directors to argue with Paul Elio about the opening stock price of $6,800.00 !...( hope you win the debate on that one Paul ! )...don't forget it part of your "Mission and Vision".....uh oh...Wait for me to finish this post...I thought I heard a "Elio" whiz by...after all this WAITING !

My biggest concern is that someone else will invent something comparable and get them up for sale, before this one hits the road.

that certainly could happen but they will have problem doing so at anywhere close to the price and performance

Don't think the "Dealership" is that big of an issue. From the illustration on the "Elio Motors" site and the description of the function it could probably be an "End Cap" on a strip mall or office park. It might need a little dedicated parking, but that's about all.

My favorite post for the day! We may need dealerships too in a couple of States with anti direct vehicle sales laws.

that pretty much mirrors what Jerome told me when we spoke in Charlotte in December ....

Not in Ohio, guys. State laws require a NON FACTORY OWNED distributor (wholesaler) to dealer set-up. These laws were revised in 2014 to allow Tesla to operate 3 factory-owned stores and NO OTHERS, EVER.

State law also requires dealerships to have show room space for at least 1 car and a dedicated service facility either on-site or near by.

So in Ohio, the Elio sales model will not be legal. And the business model won't support having the cars marked up and sold through dealers.

On the other hand, Costco in Ohio will purchase a car for you and have it delivered, so there must be some legal work-around somewhere.

My guess is that in Ohio, Elio buyers pick up their cars in KY or in Shreveport. Which is a major pain for anybody in, say, Akron.
