I'm a product of public education. It worked for me along with the help of a supportive family that gave me the occassional kick I needed and attended a few parent teacher conferences.
If we sit back and don't think public education works, has little value, and don't work with teachers and local school boards to change it, but rather go back to bed our kids are screwed.
Most can't afford private school, many others don't have the skill set for home schooling, and even more don't care all while waiting for their Elios and word on funding.
not sure why it was directed to me, but I was supporting the very same ideas. Sorry if i wasn't clear but it was the comment above to whom I asked the alternative, sorry I wasn't clearer
