The average new car price in America is approximately $30,000 . The Elio will do it's part to eliminate sticker shock for :
Younger 1st Time car buyers
Station car users
2nd car buyers
Folks on fixed income

And the best part is there is no compromise . The $6800 Elio is feature rich and well suited for 21st Century commuting .

Private school or home school and vouchers.
Very small number of folks can successfully, emotionally and financially afford to home school. The studies of the socialization skill lag, suggests education, is not the only goal of school. Home schooling only becomes a reflection of the parents views/opinions/values, and that's how you wind up with kids who think man walked amongst dinosaurs, and the planet is younger than all the 1k all-ins. Science labs, gym, sports, children with special needs, ESL, chess (and all clubs), libraries, complaining to teachers on open school night, school lunch - (maybe not school lunch o.k). It also makes it extremely difficult for those kids to assimilate after they leave home(school).
(Even the Amish don't home school).Hey, but each to their own. If you think it works for you great. Some of the greatest contributors of our society might have been home schooled
The political Voucher discussion I leave to far greater minds

I was trained in the public schools and I believe that man may have walked amongst dinosaurs and that the planet may be younger than the all-ins. I guess it all depends upon what book you want to believe as opposed to where you read that book.
I COMPLETELY agree with you on the assimilation thing though. Of all the homeschoolers that I know, most of them are pretty lacking in their social skills.

And the alternative??
I'm a product of public education. It worked for me along with the help of a supportive family that gave me the occassional kick I needed and attended a few parent teacher conferences.
If we sit back and don't think public education works, has little value, and don't work with teachers and local school boards to change it, but rather go back to bed our kids are screwed.

Most can't afford private school, many others don't have the skill set for home schooling, and even more don't care all while waiting for their Elios and word on funding.
