I think the Electrameccanica is deserving of its own thread.
I believe the prototype is to come in November with it being made in 2016.

I wonder if Elio has thought of dimples to improve aerodynamics? I've heard racing yachts and even Olympic swim suits were experimenting with them at one time. That's been a while, though. No idea if they proved out or not.

It worked for Mythbusters..

You know, one thing MythBusters didn't calculate (for the public), the car actually increased it's profile a small amount. They accounted for the extra weight, but not that. The cd would have come out even better, but of course they had to publish the MPG as the weighted evidence for their conclusion of 2% (??) improvement.

Interesting read, thanks!

Excerpt:
"ElectraMeccanica have already sold their first ten 2015 pre-production Sparrow’s. They plan to roll out 120 EMV-17 cars in 2016, a further 1,200 in 2017 and an additional 1,800 in 2018. All of these EMV-17s will be constructed in the Metro Vancouver region."

10 + 120 + 1200 + 1800 = 3130 over a 4-year stretch. Kinda puts things in perspective, when EM plans to build thousands in the first month or two.

Yes, I know, it's not apples to apples, an electric vehicle vs. an ICE vehicle, but it is interesting to compare.

Looks VERY interesting!!! They want 2k down (Canadian) which I guess is about $750 U S I-) , not getting a penny from me however- no yellow!!
My understanding is that they have already sold the 10 older sparrow design. I'm certain you could get the custom color you want on the new EMV17 from a custom builder. It would look good in Yellow!

The difference is these guys have been building custom Porsche Speedsters for 25 years. The quality is amazing. They have their own manufacturing facilities with plans to expand rather quickly if the EMV17 takes off. I'm eager to see the Sparrows new look with the EMV17 body style.
