There is a purpose for fleet monitoring type information. Testing one vehicle can only tell you how that specific one performs, which is fine to prove that the design is basically functional. What it doesn't tell you is how, on average, vehicles will wear or fail and can identify unexpected interior or ergonomic issues that aren't likely to occur in a designed test. Ultimately, incorporating the learning from the 100 fleet will give EM an opportunity to address the customer satisfaction type issues that will probably arise in an entirely new vehicle design.

Sure, they'll get some trend analysis but they aren't going to sit around for 6 months waiting for long-term analysis. More likely, they'll take the feedback as it comes in and improve/fix problems as they come up. However, they won't be looking at drastic engineering changes. You can find some points of data right off: "The door lock falls off." but other things are a lot harder to figure out and Elio just doesn't have time to find all the bugs.

You could call it the negative Nancy thread lol,I know I've had my share of it.

OK, here's some positive Nancy... and Ann for you.

I was at the Erie, PA Stadium in the early afternoon of August 8, 1976.
Rush and Heart had released their first albums in the U.S earlier that year.
It was one of Heart's first U.S. appearances since they'd moved to Vancouver.
They'd also played a club in Youngstown, Ohio a couple of days before that.

For some reason the headliner was scheduled to play first on the 8th.
Almost everyone left the stadium after the Doobie Brother's performance.
There was literally less than 70 people remaining when Rush and Heart played.
Those two bands rocked the handful of us like we were 50,000 fans strong.
"Crazy On You" was one of the strongest performances I've ever seen.

Setlist.fm lists Heart as having played Waukegan Illinois Aug. 3rd and 8th.
I don't know about Aug 3rd, but they're wrong about the 8th. They were in Erie.

I was blessed to see the Wilson sisters play again last night after almost 40 years.
They ended the night with Zepplin's Stairway To Heaven.

I've got inspiration in my heart and tears on my face this morning.
And I have absolutely nothing to whine about.

My sentiment exactly! Somehow EM should just trust their work and go for it! I'll complain later!:D

EM MUST get the "rattles & squeaks" addressed before it goes into production! Can you imagine just how costly it would be, to "recall" 50K Elios, to add a tiny piece of foam insulation, that (at the factory would cost 15 cents),to eliminate a rattle? To have have to pay Pepboys could cost EM over $50 per Elio!...Not to mention all of the irate owners (whining), "why didn't EM just do it right before they started production?"
Bad publicity.
By having a variety of drivers (and driving styles) doing some real world testing will quickly find "trends". I am not talking about major engineering problems, just tiny little "nuisances", and correct them! :)
