EM was asked early on by a number of people if they could pay for their Elio in full.
Paul turned them down; they will only accept the $1K as max payment for a deposit.
They may have given a reason, but I do not recall them doing so.

I have my full amount set aside in one of the safe's and it has been sitting there for 3 years, and that is where it will stay until my Elio is ready to be picked up. I have my reasons why.

Hopefully you have and continue to be earning some interest on that money.

This topic has been discussed for several years. Once we see things happening at the plant it will be about 8 months later until vehicles start rolling off the line, so if nothing is happening at the plant by April 2017, it may be 2018 before vehicles are produced. My hope is that things start happening at the plant SOON.

EM does not want letters going directly to DOE at this time, if ever. However, there is another place we can write that is likely to get results in the short term.

So, the incoming Trump transition team has put up a site called GreatAgain.gov. One part of the site invites us to share our story / ideas to make America great again. Go to https://greatagain.gov and click the tab called “share your story.”Go to the link and write your story. You can pick and choose from the ideas below or just write your own. Note: Elio is aware of this effort. They can’t bless it, but they’ve not said “don’t do it” either.

I'm sharing the letter I wrote. Key parts are

1. Talk about Elio's importance in creating jobs. This is an attention-getter for Trump's people.
2. Talk briefly about the Elio itself.
3. Talk about your own personal reasons for wanting an Elio, especially if they are job-related.

Following my letter are some points you could choose from if you don't want to come up with your own.

I know a way to make America great again by creating a ton of manufacturing jobs. And these are new jobs, and better still, the money to make this happen has already been allocated by Congress. We’re talking 1500 direct American jobs in Louisiana, another 1500 indirect jobs from suppliers gearing up to supply parts to Elio, and up to another 15,000 jobs around the Nation. That’s a lot of jobs!

Elio is real. There are 63,000 paid reservations for an Elio. Elio is raring to go, and they are waiting on a $186 million DOE Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan to get the plant up and running. DOE has been sitting on this loan application since 2014. DOE admits the Company meets the technical requirements.

DOE has nearly $30B for these loans, so this is a small one. So get DOE moving on this to make America great again.

In my own case, the Elio will save me about $2,500 dollar a year. I'm 71, and that's a big chunk of money to me. So to make America great again, create manufacturing jobs, help the environment with a GAS POWERED CAR -- to do all this encourage DOE to at least launch a due diligence program to validate Elio's viability in the marketplace. Then maybe cough up a little of the money they've been hoarding for 10 years. Thank you.

Here are ways Elio might affect you. Customize at will, or invent your own.


1. It will let me get to my job XX miles away.

2. It will save me $XX a month in gas I don’t have to buy (Figure Elio uses 1/3 your current gas)

3. It will save me a ton of money on insurance – stands to reason that repairing or replacing an Elio will cost about ¼ what it costs to total out an ordinary sedan, so the insurance will cost less

4. It will let my kid get to college and back safely and cheaply

5. It will let me get to work AND feed my kids

6. It will help reduce our dependence on foreign oil AND our overall gas bill.

Just for someone/everyone to make sure that it wasn't going to hurt EM's cause.

An additional item that you could consider to add to the list at the end is:

A. Provided success, the Elio can become an icon of American success.

B. Better mileage implies less fuel burnt which implies less pollution.
