from the beginning we have toyed with the idea of picking our Elio up at the factory .... going down by train or plane will be costly and without knowing the quality of ride it will provide, we are unsure if we want to drive it back to our home in NC .... another option is to drive our truck down and haul the Elio back .... while it is supposed to be designed to be flat towed, I haven't heard any mention of an option that will enable it to towed .... that leave towing it on a trailer or tow dolly .... this is a link to a spec sheet that EM provided last year .... question : does anyone know if the numbers give are still what they are planning .... the just under 6' width at the front tires is pretty easy to accommodate with a utility trailer but the 13.375' length is longer than most trailers I have access to

My plan is to haul mine back on a trailer. Being allergic to many things, Iwant to air it out so I will not break out in hives, and be ble to breathe. Do not see your production number, do not know if I could bring yours back at least toEast Tennessee for you. Should easily fit one forward and one backwards on the 18 ft lowboy trailer I have. I bought a brand new vehicle once. It sat for about 2 monthsbefore I could drive it.

offer sincerely appreciated but your will roll off the line weeks (if not months) before ours .... we travel the country in our camper during the summer and winter .... once the start of production date is known we will decide how to upgrade our reservation so as to have the best chance of it being produced while we are home to enjoy it .... I'd hate to be in Texas or South Dakota and know that our new Elio was sitting back home in our driveway

"weeks (if not months)?? If they can't produce in a week, #2579 thru #4333 something"s terribly amiss. Allowing to "get up to speed" they gotta be cranking out a lot more than 2-3k per week-don't ya think??

That's a great idea. I have an 18 ft H&H tilt-bed that I could bring a couple back on if I decide to tow and another owner between Elio and Maryland wants a ride.

I sincerely think their production projections are sheer fantasy. At least for the first year. By #2579 I expect they might be producing 100 a week at the optimistic end of the scale. I hope I'm wrong, but the engineer in me just shakes his head in incredulity.

If they push production to full speed too fast they are going to make junk. I don't want to have to spend the first weeks of ownership nut-and-bolting the whole thing to make sure it was put together right. Poor quality will kill a company far more quickly than slow production.

Re: 4333

Rucrayze, that is Messages, not SIL. :)

Jambe is correct .... we have an All In reservation which we will upgrade when they announce the date for starting production ... right now EM is showing "approximately 15,400" All In $1,000 reservations .... hopefully as production nears, we will have a better handle on how many will be produced a week

One option may be to rent a car dolly, both front wheels off the ground and the back just rolling along. I remember a lot of posts about towing the Elio. We really won't know all about towing it until we see the final specs. If my memory is correct in the oldposts , the real question was where to attach the tow bars.

that is the way I remember it as well .... a tow dolly just might be the way to go
