Originally I wanted the manual transmission, I thought it would be sportier to drive and might "feel" faster going through the gears. Then I realized that if I get an Elio, a lot of people I know would want to drive it and I know there are several folks that don't know how to drive a manual and it would be difficult to teach them from the back seat. Plus I would not want to risk someone damaging my new car trying to learn how to drive a manual. So, which ever automatic they choose and how it works will be just fine with me.

I wish I could find one to drive. I would like an automatic but will get a manual, because I believe I would not like the way it feels shifting.

An interesting comment on their latest blog.

1. $6,800? Really?!

– Yes, really. The Elio is a targeted $6,800 base price (AMT version).

Emphasis added. It seems the AMT is going to be on the $6,800 base model(!) I say that's a far cry better than the "$600 to $1000 more" that they were quoting a year ago. What do you guys think about this?

There is discussion in this link back in 2014 that EM stated the AMT would be included in the $6800 base.

I just sent EM a message, asking about ?#1.
I have always thought the AMT could be the least expensive version.

Thanks for sending that; I look forward to their answer.

I also posted in another thread what this might mean for the manual. I could see that they might drop the manual in order to reduce the number of models built. If they don't drop the manual, would they offer it at the same, less, or more that the $6800? Hopefully EM will include such details on their response to you.
