Unless Elio works out some deal with the casinos it will be much cheaper to have it delivered here in Las Cruces or Albuquerque

another part of our decision as to if we will pick it up or have it delivered will be the reports of the 40K or hopefully more that will be manufactured before ours .... if there is any indication that some adjustments may need to be made, I'd rather be near the factory so as to have them taken care of

I hear you- but there was a "whisper" that factory pick-up might be a cheaper rate for delivery/prep, which would make sense considering the network for deliveries might not be in place, in time. Just sitting back, let it roll (of course I checked the flight cost and schedule already) !! and how I'd just need 1/2 a tank to get back to FLA!!!!

I don't know. Looks more like 1-1/2 to 2 tanks with the reduced size tank. (like 7 to 7-1/2 gal)
And based on experience that highway mileage is more likely 70 MPG at interstate speeds.

I will buy the Elio if available, but if it's an uncomfortable fit for this old geezer or is disappointing in the handling and or fun department it will be Elio up for sale in a heartbeat. If EM ever gets to the point of building prototypes for the anticipated ride and drive event, and my expectations of that happening are at an all time low, I will know if it's a keeper or a quick resale opportunity.

If you get the opportunity, sit in it. For me, it resolved two of your three concerns- great fit/visibility/ergonomics will be fun but the handling can only be appreciated driving it.
BTW, with your low # I think, pardon the pun you'll be "sitting in the driver's seat" should it not meet your needs as you will probably sell it for above what you pay.

no such luck for us .... per Google Maps its 1,023 miles, a 14 hours 45 minute drive from our place to the factory

bummer!! -that might just be the deal breaker!!!!

Not trying to bring you down, but I have been led to believe EPA tests are done using gas that does not have ethanol which improves MPG results.
Also, if your highway speed is about 70, as compared to 55 - 60 that is used as the test standard, it is possible you won't see 84 MPG
The alleged gas tank size change was supposed to have been changed to give more head room.
G1 might want to correct me.

we went all in for $100 back in December .... my hope is by the time they close the first year reservations enough folks will have $1,000/$500/$250/ longer standing $100 that at least 40K (50K would be better) folks will be ahead of us .... basically, I don't plan to buy but one and I'd like to make as sure as possible that any bugs in the design and/or manufacturing process have been worked out .... as to Pep Boys, lets just say my confidence level in them isn't very high
