hi fpelsdca,

I did not invent this pond system, in fact I found it on the net, under bio filters for ponds... for a 4500 gallon pond, I am using 3... 100-150 gallon Rubbermaid tubs with some pvc tubing inside and about 300 plastic pot scrubbers for the bio mass... the only problem is in Oregon during the winter all the plants die off... I would guess that where you live you could run this system year around and have very little clean up... and in most cases just one pump to run it... I planted just " One " tomato plant using this system and it grow to 10' wide 7' tall by 5' deep and I stopped counting the tomato's when it went over 130, I had them coming out of my ears...

That is truly awesome, Proud to Be. I looked up 4500 gallon ponds and was amazed at the size. What an adventure you are on and it tastes good too! It also is beautiful. Could you possibly plant plants that can survive the winter? Would something like bamboo work? Just curious and fascinated. Thanks for sharing. :-) Z

You should drive your friends through my fair City of Coeur d'Alene, ID if close by on your trip thru Idaho......a little slice of heaven. Even a couple of good Italian Restaurants.......one on the lake. They may not leave. LOL

Hi Z,

I have not found a plant that can be in a pond that freezes over each year with about 2" of ice on top, the plants I have survive the winter and regrow each year... But in Portland weather there is no plants that I know, that will grow in a pond in sub temps/Winter.

The plants take the fish waste out of the water when they grow... No grow... lots of waste... to much waste.. fish die!

That is why I have to change 3000 gallons of water each year in late winter/early spring. if I had plants that would grow then the water would be fine... So in the low States this system would work fine... But it would be to hot for Rainbow Trout... a 2 sided blade...

how about a motel nearby the factory, that would provide pick-up from the airport, a place to stay overnight, and food places nearby. A small contact Elio owners sheet in the lobby to share and meet and greet. It would be too exciting to meet owners who have picked up their car and are staying overnight before heading back. and of course the trip from the motel to the factory!! their would be a club discount, after AmX, AARP, Boy/girl scouts, Vets etc.- we would fit into the i have a pulse group. Knowing these costs could help folks determine pick-up or delivery- did read if picked up still have to pay shipping, but perhaps a discount from them.
Adds additional jobs to the community, provides an important service to visitors (us!), would be extra traffic for the hotel. Unlike when I fe;t I was really getting a deal buying a new car- a full tank of gas closed the deal!- mats to make me look smart in front of the mrs.- well that didn't work, divorced!!
figure we get maybe a gal from Paul- so a friendly station nearby would be cool too!!
Maybe Elio has this covered (lol)
Adverise on the website to offset costs
allow other vendors as options become available.

Actually, there was mention several months ago about an arrangement with the local Casino. I don't know it that is still in the works or not. :-) Z

That is what I heard also but haven't heard anything lately. Of course, it is a way down the road before we need these services. Someone on here said you had to have proof of a one way flight ticket. I remember because I wanted to know if the same courtesy would be made to Amtrak travelers. :-) Z
