I work near a facility that produces gravel, sand and concrete. The stuff is constantly on the roads here. As such I sometimes see vehicles in our parking lot that got 'a bit close' when following another car. Pock marks on the nose of the car. (yeah nose bra. That's not where I'm going.)

It got me to thinking... Are the 'outriggers' on the Elio going to spray/throw debris up against the sides of the car? Even with flaps I can't see how they wouldn't.

Inquiring minds want to know...

Yes this is going to be a big problem especially while turning. The front tires are going to pepper the side with dirt and pebbles. Low hanging mud flaps would stop much of the debris. The aircraft industry uses a thick clear plastic abrasion material to cover leading edges of horizontal and vertical stabilizers. Imagine Scotch tape 8 inches wide and 10 times as thick and tough as nails. Not terribly expensive and would save a lot of wear and tear on the side of the vehicle.

I have been thinking about the rear wheel . Where no wheel has gone before. Motorcycles usually travel one side or the other for a reason, it can get slippery in the middle of a lane, oil, gravel, etc. This is going to be fun.

For one thing, this phenomena is not nearly as prevalent as it used to be. Modern cars don't leave much of a "grease" trail nowadays.
Second, the rear wheel on the Elio is simply a "trailing" wheel, not a drive wheel. Not much traction is needed here.
