I think it'll take a few months production to cover Harvard - not for me to know -McGill and U of Toronto are internationally recognized as outstanding schools
I am with walking distance to University Of Toronto, but a Harvard education would get him an advantage in the job market. Toronto is presently booming but who knows what the job market will be in five years. He still has one more year of high school left.

My present income would not allow me to apply for a low income subsidy,I might be able to after the second or third year when my income will be dropping bu about three quarters. Thanks for the suggestion.

I figured that for the first year if I had reservations, I would have the Toronto market to myself. I don't presently feel comfortable enough to pull the trigger.
Just remember, "low income" at the Ivy's is low income for the Hampton's not US FPL. ;)

I filled out the online application for Harvard showed me paying full rate. Maybe next year it will work out better. He is my only child and I don't think that my wife or I will be living to an old age, so want to give him the best.

Don't buy the hype, with ONLY a B.S./B.A from Harvard .., there are kids w/ M.S, and PHd's living home, hoping they raise the minimum wage. My analogy in THE Name- one of the best Cancer Centers in the States- Sloane-Kettering, has very few senior/staff. The kids work a couple of years, move on with their resume, and boast they worked at S.K. It's a mill, (not the research labs), treatment outcomes from folks across the nation are probably no better/worse. For reasons that escape me, people expect/demand THE BEST medical treatment- after all is said and done, Harvard has "brand recognition,",, if he's good at (fill in the blank) he will be recognized for his talents long before Harvard educated. Hey but that's just me. My advanced degree got me in the door for sure, the fact it was Columbia University was a nice "touch"- Stony Brook, (a NY State U) receives recognition way past many Ivy League Schools

I agree that the education from other schools are just as good. My son could probably get a scholarship for University Of Toronto.competition f. My wife wants him to go to a smaller school . She said a big fish in a smaller pond is better for most students.
I am leaving the decision to him. Will be able to fund him no matter what. Will hurt but we will get by.
