Pep Boys To Provide Service / Maintenance

I have 3 within easy distance of me. The PB store I frequented in NM did good work and got a lot business from my '76 Plymouth Fury o_O. I trust my mechanic though, so I have no problem starting his Elio experience with oil changes! My driveway is just not conducive to working on my vehicles.

Perhaps a little too premature but talked (via phone) to Pep Boys store managers (Waco and Dallas).
They currently have no information what-so-ever concerning future Elio service arrangements or policy.

Anyone try to talk to Pep Boys personnel in your area ?

Why would they when it's more than a year before the Elio will be on the street? Please don't waste people's time this far ahead of production.

Call them back in September of next year. If they haven't heard anything by then, then you can be concerned.

Are we wasting our time too discussing this vehicle years in advance of production. I think it's very odd that individual Pep Boys Stores have no awareness of the Elio.......let alone that they have partnered for Service. Many people have posted on FB that their local PB Stores were clueless and one even said oh the Elio..that will never make it!
Great PR!!!!!!! Elio Should have Posters in each and every PB Store location........it's way not too early.

Pep Boys has the opportunity to be servicing 35,000 + Elio's and should be a very big deal for that company.......unless they don't give a crap...........then it's not good for future Elio Owners.

No, we are not wasting our time discussing the Elio. I just don't like wasting other people's time. The managers at the local level have little to no influence over a huge, profit-driven public corporation. Hassling them only makes their day longer.

I agree that Pep Boys promoting the Elio would be useful. But you have to think like a business. From their perspective it's far from a sure thing and it would hurt their business if they start promoting it and it never happens. We'll have to get much farther down the road to production before it makes business sense for the Boys to begin promoting the Elio.

If you really want to influence Pep Boys, buy their stock so you can attend their shareholder annual meeting and vote on their board members. You can also contact Pep Boys corporate through their Investor Relations and bend their ear:

I (opinion) don't think Pep boys will work out for Elio.
Maybe for tires and an oil change but other warranty work I can't see them paying to have the trained people it will take. I look for someone else to come on board within two years to handle the warranty work.

Wayne, their people are already trained to repair anything on any make and model of car now. I don't think the Elio will be difficult for them to repair at all. Probably easier than many new cars, like any hybrid for example. It's not that sophisticated.

Like most things, I'm sure they have qualified people is some area's of the country. We'll have to just wait 5 years and see how it goes.
