Elio Motors Inc. Names Pep Boys as Official Service Provider for Enclosed Three-Wheeled Vehicle Set to Launch in 2015
Nationally recognized, respected service provider adds key building block to Elio Motors launch strategy

TROY, Mich., April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pep Boys – Manny, Moe & Jack , the nation's leading automotive aftermarket service and retail chain, has been named as the official service provider for Elio Motors, Inc., the start-up transportation company revolutionizing the way Americans commute.

With a price tag of $6,800 and fuel efficiency of 84 miles per gallon, the enclosed, three-wheeled vehicle will launch in 2015.

With 800 service centers and 7,500 service bays in 35 states and Puerto Rico, Pep Boys will provide Elio Motors customers with convenient service options from one of the most trusted names in the automotive aftermarket. Pep Boys is located in 90 percent of the markets where Elio Motors will operate. Elio Motors will service vehicles at its company owned stores in remaining markets .

The GOOD thing, even if you are quite a ways from a Pep Boys, is that Elio is starting off with 800 some odd service centers. Can you imagine if they started off with just their "60 largest markets" stores being authorized service centers? Sure, if there isn't a Pep Boys nearby it will be inconvenient but it's bound to be better than the roughly 1 per state that Elio would have had. I think it's a good start. I would think that they will address the areas that have no service centers eventually. Hopefully, with as simple as the Elio is, it won't need much servicing. My $60K+ truck hasn't needed service yet and a light, simple, car shouldn't need much in the way of service either.

Since we are all speculating, they could possibly outsource if one isn't local, like in Missouri, where there is only one Pep Boys location.

On the Elio Facebook page they have been posting this response when people ask about a lack of Pep Boy locations in there areas.

This is the first major step in a long process that is our national service center program. There are many options that we are still reviewing to make sure that all of our valuable Elio customers are taken care of when it comes to service and warranty.
Pep Boys has over 800 locations in the US and Puerto Rico making this a very big first step!

Pep Boys is only a couple miles from me, and they have Service bays... I haven't ever been in their stores though.
