Hi NSTG8R,
Not sure what you are seeing, I did hear about a few stories about how ball lighting and plasma balls are made ... but those are very rare, it doesn't sound like the right weather conditions for that to happen in your area... So it is something unknown flying around your area... What is near you??
I can't say I have ever seen a UFO or flying orb... But about 15 year ago, I did see or not see in this case.. something very odd... I was camping with some close friends near a lake on MT Hood, and about midnight, I looked up to see the stars before going to sleep and there were no stars...
I pointed this out to everyone and we all looked up in wonder, and sat around the fire and talked about what we were all seeing, or not seeing...
Even more odd, was the the space where we did not see any stars, was in the shape of a huge triangle... really huge... almost the size of the lake... which was about two miles across... the huge black triangle was only over the lake, not over land at all...
You would see the stars, and then you saw this boarder of the triangle, the edge of the triangle shape was sharp and clear, like a straight black line drawn in the sky, then inside the triangle it was just plain dark black... no star light at all could be seen... no odd sounds... but a very quiet night on the lake...
So "logically" that should have not happened... This was a huge area, no moon light, lake reflections off of the clouds, that could block out the stars... it was a clear night, no clouds in the sky at all... something huge and dark blocked our view of the stars... unknown... what it was...
OK, speaking of dark shapes.I live in a B'ham suburb. Years ago, a UFO was sighted by dozens of movie goers not far from my house. They were standing in line to buy tickets and saw a large, dark shape hovering directly overhead. After a few minutes, it took off without a sound. For the last 25 years or so, I look up just about every night. I haven't seen anything other than the moon, planets, stars and man-made aircraft. If the thing comes back, I want to see it.
OK, speaking of dark shapes.
In 1997 I was living in Phoenix AZ down on 16th Ave south of Camelback Mt. So one fine night I'm thinking, first person experience is everything and it would be very cool if I could see a UFO for myself. Other people I know, and family have had impressive sighting but never myself.
That night I didn't go out in the yard, and that night the 'Pheonix Lights' object traveled directly down over my position, was sighted widely and made the news. The next night something obviously more military like did a similar event, and I wasn't out for that either. I wish I'd been out to see either of them.
The news and common talk get both events mixed together, feeding all kinds of mis-information and disjointed theory.
The whole thing confirms what I say, your own observation is the best way to add to your understanding of what is possible, and highlights the wall between what we know and don't know.
WOW, pass that way very often and haven't paid attention. Will have tostay more alert. Not sure where you live, but there's supposed to be something off exit #4 on I-44 near Joplin called the "spook lights", or "spooky lights", something like that. Been seen since the early 1800's by thousands of people, not sure if it's related to the things we've been seeing up here.

Thanks, NSTG8R. I go through there on my way to visit family up in Overland Park in Kansas. Will look forward to that link.I'll have to see if I can find the link, but they give detailed directions on how to get to the spot where they're seen (a lot, apparently). I used to head that way every Thanksgiving going to Tulsa to visit an Uncle before he passed. Haven't been down that way in 5 or 6 years...didn't know about it myself back then.

Very bottom of the link gives detailed directions on how to find the area. Going to have to check it out myself one of these days just to see if it's similar to what we've been seeing up here.
Thanks, NSTG8R, and Ya got it out FAST!
Now, if we can get Paul to match your speed and efficiency.
Appreciate you!
