Most production cars have blind spots. The mirrors do not. The mirrors are there to mitigate the blind spots. Most drivers do not know how to properly use side mirrors. Here's a hint: If you can see the face of the driver in front of you in their car's side mirrors stay clear of them because they are not thinking drivers.

Well, I can't disagree with you on the formal definition of blind spot, but you'll notice when the mirrors are correctly set, there is still a space between 90deg and that angle rearward. The side post on my car for someone who is long like me, overlaps that area. So yes, the mirror hasn't got a blind sport, but in my seat position my car does. And I must look each time (leaning forward) or face the results. Once in a while someone comes straight down that blind alley and I get a little surprise. Here in Phoenix area they just love to Dive for it!

With just the two outside mirrors, your blind spot would be only as wide as the Elio and that narrows down so fast that someone standing directly behind the elio is seen in both mirrors. A Center mounted rear view mirror would only show your own head. In my truck, the 18 inches to the right of my head where the mirror is mounted allows me to use the angle to see out the rear window. There is probably nowhere in the elio that will allow that same geometry.

It may be a height thing as much as an angle thing. If you look at the yellow Elio above, you can see the profile of the driver. Draw a line with your finger straight forward to where the rearview mirror might be mounted on the windshield. It looks to be the same height, so to adjust the mirror to see out the back window? You would have to lean to the side, and probably remove the head rest from the seat.

Can I get a hallelujah? lol

After all these theoretical questions about mirrors, how many of you have actually sat in the Elio and looked in the mirrors? Much to do about nothing IMHO.
<raises hand> Hi. :D

You are right, of course. It is all pretty much mental ma... er... exercise until the thing actually gets to productionn

I've been in BOTH the P3 & P4..... NO PROBLEM seeing objects to the rear (except directly behind the license plate). I already have a 'rear cam' that I will install, if I think I really 'need' it.

So Rog, no need for a rear window, is that your thought?

No kidding, I bought a double-din radio for my truck earlier this year and when I went to order a back up camera I was shocked at how cheap they were, some as low as $10. My $20 one is waterproof and has a basic infrared night vison built in.

Hello Okuma, if you don't mind; what brand name and model, back up camera did you buy?
