I have not had the chance to see the elio in person. My level of interest started from my dad. Not sure how he found about about this, but I know it was back in 2012 somewhere. Given the chance, I would love to see the elio in person. Be able to sit in it, and test out that dashboard and see how much I really like it
Watch the tour schedule for when one of them will be somewhere close and go see it; it is well worth the trip.
I think some of your ideas about it may change when you actually see it; the first thing I said when I saw it was "it's a lot bigger than I expected" and when you sit in it and close the door you'll have the biggest smile on your face you've ever had.

He's right. The front seat is roomier then most SUVs I've sat in.

I got there early enough to take a couple of sitting opportunities in Dallas. The seat was definitely more comfortable than my Prius and is a stock Mustang seat I believe. One thing about American vehicles is they have put a lot of thought and time into seating comfort.

It is definitely an expensive option. (Too expensive for me to even think about.) But it's not just an iPad holder with an interface to the car's computer. It also includes things like a 360 degree security camera, GPS, Internet connection, accelerometers, and an app for both your tablet and smart watch. The smartphone/watch connection apparently also includes remote door lock/unlock and remote start capability, and live video feed from your car.

Infinite Skyz | Elio Motors
"What does Infinite Skyz supply to Elio Motors?
Infinite Skyz will be supplying Elio Motors with our SkyzMatic vehicle connectivity system with numerous sensors to provide customers with connected car features including in-vehicle VoIP calling, Internet access, remote vehicle monitoring, remote start and lock/unlock, and navigation. The connectivity will also provide Bluetooth 4.0, in-vehicle internet access, camera monitoring and logging, vehicle location monitoring, trip logging, distance sensors, and accelerometer data monitoring. The SkyzMatic system will transmit real-time camera viewings, location, dashboard, distance sensors, and accelerator data directly to an iPad or iPhone. All of the remote functions will be transmitted from an iPhone and iWatch to and from the Elio through the SkyzMatic system. The information available to Elio owners through the SkyzMatic connectivity system will significantly enhance their overall experience with the vehicle through best-in-class technology, apps, and safety features."

You can also read about it directly from the InfiniteSkyz people: Infinite Skyz
Then I assume we also get the hardware of four cameras around the vehicle in order to get that 360degree view. But is there any other hardware we get? The GPS, internet connection and accelerometers are probably in the tablet. I do not see any other features at the Infinite Skyz website not provided by the tablet, an app to run on it, and data from the vehicle bus. This still seems like a lot of money for not much hardware. If there is more hardware, I want to know.

"We have not added the cruise control to the options list yet because we are still determining if it will be a standard feature or not. We will work to get this information out as quickly as possible on our newsletter once we learn more."
Cruise control should be standard, but it will be an option for me since I currently drive 700 mi a week.

I met Marshall in Dallas ( really nice guy), and we didn't even discuss the dash. Personally, I was torn about the dash before I saw it in person. After seeing it, I'm still torn. It does look really good, but there is going to be a learning curve reading it while driving. If analog gauges become an option I will probably go with them.
