I have a unibody manufacturer at the ready if required, but as mentioned, the cost of dies is quite overwhelming, at least initially for the project. I'm the tall guy with the funny hat, who isn't Chinese ...

I try everywhere I can to reduce number of pieces, cost and especially time, and of course the biggy: "Off the shelf" parts where ever and as many as possible, this will include OEM doors.

The entire side panels are one piece.

Getting the office prepared, primary job today was designing the steering column brackets, laser cutting them, and mounting the steering column.

The instruments are simple, just the speedo and tacho (not really needed). The speedo has all the ancillaries, such as fuel gauge, temperature, seat belt warning, turn signal lights, etc.

Depends on who is driving; I'd try for it, if I could do it on a closed course, on the freeway, there are too many idiots to get in your way.

You got that right. Seems like the idiots are multiplying. I suspect much of it comes from cell phone use?

Cell phones are one, just distracted driving is the big culprit, to many things to do, and to look at (or look up in the sky.... is that bird? ) if you listen to enough Pink Floyd that line makes sense. Just no one can pay attention to what they are doing for more than 10 minutes or so, and they forget what they are doing. But you bet they can see you when you come up behind them, and what do they do? Stupid things like slow down, use a turn signal, and the forget which way they turned it on for ........the list goes on...
