They're trying to resolve the issue everywhere they can. I suggest that, if you live in a state that hasn't yet adopted an autocycle exemption, you contact your state legislators about supporting one. Most bills seem to go through rather easily once they're proposed, but showing that their constituents are interested can go a long way towards expediting things.

Getting a bill proposed is certainly easier now than it was say 30 yrs ago, but it's not easy to get a bill to become law. I've been through the process, and while a bill that I helped propose has become law in KS, I wouldn't call it easy.

True. Maybe I should have said that they tend to face little opposition. Though, that's about as easy as legislation gets.
I also called my local State Senator regarding his interest in sponsoring a Bill to exempt the Elio from the States required MC endorsement and helmet requirements. He was extremely welcoming to the idea and did sponsor the Bill. The sponsored Bill needed support from members of the States Transportation Committee which is the political process. The key to the fact that drawing support is somewhat easier.............is that it's a minor change to an existing law drafted as an Addendum to the current Motorcycle Legislation in identifying a new class of motorcycle.......the autocycle definition and exemption.

One state cannot enforce another states laws .Example ,Florida requires no vehicle inspection .
In my case diplomatic immunity works fine

EXAMPLE , YOU DRIVE YOUR ELIO THROUGH WEST VIRGINIA & HAVE NO HELMET .
YOUR ELIO IS PLATED AS A BIKE & IS THEREFORE ACCOUNTABLE TO THAT STATE's
LAWS WHILE YOU ARE IN THAT STATE . YOU CAN GET A TICKET .
THE AUTOCYCLE LAWS ARE GREAT AND I AM SO GLAD THAT NORTH CAROLINA
HAS GOTTEN ON BOARD .
I DROVE MY BIKE PLATED FREEWAY FOR YEARS HERE WITH HO HELMET OR
MOTORCYCLE ENDORSEMENT ON MY LICENSE .
NEVER WAS STOPPED , BUT IT IS A MOOT POINT NOW .
PLENTY OF 2 WHEEL BIKERS FROM OTHER STATES HAVE TRIED TO RIDE THROUGH NC WITHOUT

not to worry about them who chose to ride without a helmet, G+D has a way of thinning the herd
My baby boy has never been ticketed in NC or any other state .Neither have any other members of the HA on their way to bike week
can't speak for any other state but don't doubt for a moment that in NC state, county and local law enforcement offers will issue a ticket for a helmet violation .... I have seen them let out of state bikers go with a warning if they have a helmet with them ....
