Right on. This should be done even on power-steering cars to save some wear-and-tear on the tires.The learning curve is usually learning to turn the wheel when the vehicle is in motion forward or reverse. It requires just a tad more planning ahead.
I always cringe when I see people forcing the wheel to turn when their car is static. Just doesn't make any sense to me.
