my experience with aftermarket engine programmers has been for use with both the GM 5.3 gas and Duramax diesel motors .... both made a difference in performance, the biggest gain coming with the Duramax .... use of those programmers could have caused problems with warranty coverage for repairs but we had no mechanical issues so it didn't become an issue .... if Elio Motors provides the programming software, there shouldn't be any warranty implications .... even though I may never use it, such software would be an option I'd be interested in Jim
A sport button that actually works would be cool. Elio Manettio Ferrari Manettino drive mode selector on steering wheel
I've developed an economy setting for my car. It's under my right foot and controlled by my ankle. Trouble is, it tends to go into competition mode all by itself.
The new 2.0 ecoboost is 252 hp/ 270fpt Aluminium block dohc 4 valve per. Twin variable cam timing at a10.0 cr needs premium fuel. And 16 pounds of boost. What a beast for a 4 banger. Dont see a weight listed.
2.0 L 4 cylinder is physically too big to fit between the frame rails. 1.0 L 3 cylinder ecoboost maybe.
I don't have any experience with the smaller ECO Boost motors but am very familiar with the one installed in an F150 and the concept behind the engine .... working at an RV dealership and seeing the size campers they are towing has given me a respect for their pulling power .... their gas mileage is highly dependent on the driver's right foot .... kick in the turbos and she'll jump but at the cost of mileage .... while their power is no longer in question, longevity for working trucks (as opposed to yuppie trucks ) has yet to be determined in the real world .... I wouldn't consider any engine with an ECHO Boost design to be a good candidate for the high mileage concept of the Elio .... if one wanted to create a drag racer, that would be a different matter ..
