No "tranny" will ever get in MY Elio!

Oops, sorry; not PC. To make up for it, let me be the first to wish everyone here "Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!"

I wonder if THE Ohio State University is now going to force their city to rename itself "Indigenous Peoples, Ohio."

I am a NATIVE (Eau Claire/Madison) Cheesehead, now down Houston/Katy way, but it's too darned hot down here to ride my Zuke in the summer and sometimes too darned cold to ride it in the winter. An enclosed bike with HVAC in the HOV lane is the key to a half-hour less commute time per day, every workday of the year!

Just stay away from those two lane rural Texas roads. My wife is a Texan and I've spent a lot of time down there driving between her home in Corpus and Houston and College Station. There isn't much that is scarier than driving one of those Texas two-laners and seeing an F350 coming the other way at a closing speed of about 160 mph. A head-on would of course likely result in mutual assured destruction but the F350 driver will get an open casket whereas they'll be stuggling to find you with a tablespoon in what is left of the Elio. I don't care what kind of roll cage it has nor how many airbags, F=MA. So do be careful.

Two cars. One daily driver comfortable, one for show HOT. The basic car will be eventually transformed for show. If finances ever become that big a deal then I have a basic car to enjoy. Everybody does what they can. At least it will be affordable for everyone to buy one initially.

1. Red with white Rally Strips - Intertainment: stereo holds iPhone 6+ for GPS & phone Bluetooth - auto - leather - cruise. Daily driver. :)
2. Chrome Purple - Manual - will hope for later Turbo upfit - air/exhaust upgrade - open front fenders and chrome mags - leather. Show Car/mini Hot Rod.

Good question Karl!
Just an observation from most other automotive companies. Things like the wiring harnesses usually include wires for any available feature for that vehicle. It simplifies the manufactoring process and actually lowers costs to the builder, and hopefully the consumers.
Most fuse boxes include unfilled slots. This allows for individuals to include things such as a CB radio, "if" they desire to wire into it.
Mounting points for motors and transmissions on the frames are usually the same, only differing "sometimes" on crossmounts. Even then the anchor points on the frames are usually the same.

For me:
  • Cruise control is a must - I drive too much up and down a boring highway (>24k/yr) not to have the option
  • Automatic depends how refined their design ends up being, I do sit in traffic frequently.
  • A moonroof could be fun, I use mine all the time when the weather is nice - though I don't know if it'll be necessary with two windows next to you.
  • I'd really like bluetooth, my phone is a better radio/navigation unit than any they'd probably offer. If it's an expensive upgrade I'll build my own (hack the factory radio) or use a cheap aux adapter. I'm kinda bummed it's not standard, stereo bluetooth modules themselves are CHEAP (like... under 6 dollars cheap).
I just bought a Kinivo BTC450 Bluetooth Hands-Free Car Kit from Amazon.com for my 2008 Honda Element. This jewel was only $39 and supports aptX. Can stream music from your smart phone. Quality is superb. Set up was a breeze. I'll transfer this to my Elio when I get it rather than upgrade the standard radio. Also I prefer Garmin GPS products to any factory nav system I've seen. Bottom line is I won't be upgrading the Elio with factory Bluetooth or Nav. I'll supply my own.
