Well, don't know if this would count as a hobby, or just a bad habit. I live like 1/4 mile from the Meramec River, and we (wife and I) have a couple of kayaks, as do 6 of our friends (all couples we hang out with). All their kayaks are the standard, off the shelf, drop it in the water and float down the river type. Mine has been upgraded. I've install a 200 watt Infiniti marine stereo (with wireless remote), and a pair of Kicker 100 water marine speaker mounted where the fishing pole holders used to be...not going to be many fish hanging around this kayak anyway. Uses a thumb drive, with 1450 of my favorite songs, and powered by a electric scooter 12V rechargeable battery (last around 11 hours at 1/2 volumn). Put in upstream at one buddy's river lot, and float on down to another buddy's river lot...about 7 miles (also has a pop-up camper on the downstream lot, just in case we have a little too much fun). Everyone has their own coolers, and we're not packing soda pop (unless used as a mixer). Try to get out most weekends if the weather's nice. Sometimes it's just the wife and I, but the more the merrier! Cheap outdoors fun!
