took me about a month to get it where I wanted it. I only recommend the Golden Eagle. I've heard tales of folks putting 50 thousand miles on these babies.

I could not resist this one on the Cruzbike. I see they no longer make the conversion kit.

Don't know what the mileage is on a converted bike, but the EPA started coming down hard on the air pollution of small engines, with the latest standards beginning in 2010 for small hand-held engines, and lawn mower engines in the following two years. Before these new standards, they estimated that one lawn mower engine emitted volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides equivalent to 11 new cars being driven for one hour. The new standards cut these emissions about in half.
So, not to take away from anyone's hobbies (I love the idea of powering a bicycle), but this may mean an Elio beats the pollution of a string trimmer. I'd rather go riding than do yard work, anyway.

HHH; forget 90% of the stuff on the internet about engine powered bikes. The average off the net are Chinese bad boys way over powered loud and subject vibration and early retirement. The Golden Eagle on the other hand is docile
and quiet and properly matched to be street legal and usable as any other type bike. Only a basic driver's license required by most States as long as it meets the rules to be governed and considered as any other bicycle with all rights of standard bicyle usage. 90 percent of converted bikes do not fit those design limits imposed by most States. Anything over 20 mps is dangerous to me except for an occasional burst to 30 mphs of so. I get 214 mpg on mine just for the record.

I like your hobby and would love to add it to my list as well. But my city is very unfriendly for bicycle riders with narrow streets and no bike lanes. Plus too many people on there cell phones. So I only ride my bike on the bike trail for exercise. I'm not sure if I can use them motors there, but even if I could, would defeat the purpose. However, If I ever move to an area where I can ride safely for actual transportation/commuting, I would definitely buy a Golden Eagle engine. But they are fun to install and ride.

I love the diversity of hobbies! I love to go shooting and mountain biking. I also enjoy tinkering with cars, but not cars that most people would think are cool.
I own what I consider the best passenger car ever built and plan on keeping it forever. I own a 1995 Mercedes E420, MB merged the W124 platform with the M119 V8 to create quite an amazing car. almost 20 years later the car is still quiet, looks good and can keep up or out run most modern cars.
Now for a truly controversial statement! I own the greatest vehicle ever made, a first generation Ford Ranger (1985) with a 2.0 lima four cylinder.
Everything else I own, doesn't really matter except for my Kona mountain bikes, my home built bikes and my firearms.
These things+wife+kids= a fun life!

I fully recognize your condition and good judgement. My State Law specifically defines "motorized bicycle" as being accorded all rights and laws as to any other type bicycle. That said there are self appointed vigilantes on park trails and the occasional misinformed cop that confront me on this. For this reason I carry a print out of the State Law that informs others of the privileges accorded this particular type bike being subject to only the laws and privileges accorded to any other bicycle. In other words this type bike is nothing like those screaming mimis tearing down the road. It simply purrs a putt putt putt and conquers all hills. Ok just some hills not all of them. LOL
