Aguila is quality ammo? I had bought a bunch to shoot and I had nothing but issues. 2-3 out of a box of 50 would not fire, and I believe it was like 1 in 5 that had a failure to eject. This was with some 60g 22LR subsonic ammo in both my Ruger 10/22 and Ruker MkIII.
Subsonic ammo is not intended cycle semi-automatic firearms. If 4 out of 5 rounds out of your Rugers successfully cycled them (and they were still subsonic), then it's outstanding ammo! :D

Only if there are enough boollits! Otherwise they are just metal sticks. :D

Between January 2013 and just now, 22LR has been the single hardest common ammo to find. And the most insanely overpriced. It's just now starting to show up in quality and quantity. The awful Automatch stuff started showing up in bulk last year, now the good quality Aguila, Winchester, and CCI is showing up in bulk again online. But still not at the local Wally-world yet. :( The Panic is almost over, four years later!

Moral of the story: Buy 22LR cheap, stack 22LR deep!
The drought has actually been longer.
I've had no problem for the last five years.
You just had to know when and where to look.
Price: $.07 a round for brass and copper plated HP.

Referring back to Jim's video, I just looked at my Remington Goldens: 1010 fps @100 yrds.
My Winchesters are rated the same (1280 fps) as the Goldens at the muzzle.

When I say, "It will be fought with billions of 22LR. The ones that are already out there."...
I'm talking about the boolits, not the pipes. They're out here. We've got em.

I'll +1 on the subsonic. They're meant for a manual action. There's not enough back pressure for autos.
I've got the old Glenfield Model 25 bolt I had as a kid and a beautiful Marlin 795.
But in PA, I can't hunt anything with a semi-auto rifle. :(

my 30 year old 32 grain hollow point CCI stingers "with tear-drop cavity for complete disruption" show a muzzle velocity of 1640 fps , 1292 fps at 50 yards, 1162 fps at 75 yards, 1066 fps at 100 yards

Prefer 22 mag

It confuses people when you expend 15 rounds from a pistol and still have 16 more behind it.
and the report is somewhere between a 9mm and a 40

I like to add psychological warfare to any encounter :D
Average self defense encounter is 3, 3, 3: 3 shots, 3 seconds, 3 ft.
