Rick,
"I like it, I love it, I want some more of it..."
The sliding canopy itself is just plain badd-ast.
But... I just noticed... Where's the second seat?

Edit: Notice the reflectors/lights on the fenders!
I've always been a fan of 64 - 66 Thunderbirds. Those convertables had a piece of body work that covered the rear seat, and made them look like a two seater. Kinda funny on an 18' car with a big block 390 motor, but a cover like that could work on an Elio.:)

for just over a month I've been monitoring the number of members on line and the number of post .... both seem to be on the upswing .... what I have noticed is the number of members (some having joined over a year ago) who check in daily/several times a day and almost never post .... I agree that to stimulate conversation it would be great to have some positive NEW news from EM
But do you remember Music Man (not posted since 1/16), LockMD (not been on the forum since 5/6) Blackbird (who is number 61 I think) and many others? This forum's future needs something new and exciting from EM to keep it going. Honestly, I'm getting a little bored myself with nothing "new" to talk about. Don't get me wrong, you folks are great people, and I consider it a privledge to have had contact with you, and especially Z. I've been "all in" at $500.00 since 3/14, and want to see this happen, but it seems EM is in a holding pattern with nothing happening. I think I'll spend more time in General Discussions just talking to my friends (you guys). :)

DWR,
You are correct, we are in a holding pattern. With a monumental task of this size there are periods that look like inactivity. We have become a society of immediate gratification. We want it now. I get it. But, if you can stand the wait I believe the reward will be worth the time spent. Hang in there.

I personally do not think Elio Motors is in a "holding pattern with nothing happening".

I do think Elio Motors has learned to remain silent until after something has happened, as they have taken plenty of licks from those who are addicted to the 'gotcha!' moments. EM has given those types plenty. I also think Elio Motors is very aware of the very real time frame they have to start hiring or face stiff financial penalties from Racer Trust, and are attempting to move mountains to line up needed capital.

I read this the other night and then just happened to read a response to a question on the EM Facebook account.
It was about the engine and wiring sub-assemblies.
Incidentally, the old Geo engine is out of production, so a new engine is not that big of a deal. They would have had to set up all of the machining and foundry patterns for that also. Did I say foundry? Take a look at where that is mentioned and get some information.
Now lots of people have never worked on older cars so they can't really see how impressive some of this stuff is. But if you have the background, even the valve cover is impressive.
In any case, here's the list, and when you read about the engine, follow the links and get a feel for the complexity.
Engine: http://eepurl.com/VusHv
Engine Update: http://eepurl.com/XJ91n
Engine Cooling System: http://eepurl.com/1Wvdr
Engine Q&A: http://eepurl.com/YIvq1
Wire Harness: http://eepurl.com/Y-KO9
Engine Series 1: http://eepurl.com/5TWxr
Engine Series 2: http://eepurl.com/6sXxb
Engine Series 3: http://eepurl.com/63JzL
Engine Series 4: http://eepurl.com/7G4bn
Engine CAS: www.youtube.com/embed/QkZS1YWPpIE
Engine Dyno Run: https://www.youtube.com/embed/XlM5jWOnDO8
Now if you got to here and really looked at all of the links and other companies, you may have a small idea of the complexity of building an autocycle's engine.

My need for a little Elio self gratification and hanging in there from 2008-2015 doesn't seem close to instant. EM is in a definite holding pattern due to lack of funding, which could change tomorrow, but the clock is ticking.

agree .... no matter how much info they release, some will say it isn't enough .... as you say, remaining silent would appear to be the best path
