HOW ABOUT A CONVERTIBLE VERSION OR A SPORT OPTION MOTOR ?
A very creative person did these renderings of a removeable hardtop Elio convertible option.

Rick,
"I like it, I love it, I want some more of it..."
The sliding canopy itself is just plain badd-ast.
But... I just noticed... Where's the second seat?

Edit: Notice the reflectors/lights on the fenders!

I don't know how the door is going to work on the left side with the new fairing...
Although, I'd be MORE than happy to enter and exit like a jet fighter.
I also like the additional crash protection it it would (might) provide.

The convertible is amazing.
Would the lower structure need to be strengthened?

I'd almost be ok with the loss of the second seat.

Do you guys realize that a convertible would not fit the definition of an autocycle. :)
Some states yes, some states no.

From what I read in the revised Conn. act provided by Sr. MailMan, autocycles there can be partially enclosed.
I've seen some states say a vehicle can qualify as an autocycle if it is partially enclosed with a roll bar or equivalent device.
You'd have to read the fine print in the laws pertaining to the state in question.

Good reminder Jambe.
