Oh, no! Don't take away the trolls, they're ever so much fun to poke with pointy sticks! o_O
You are very likely correct. I doubt IAV requires VW or Nissan pay up front however working with a start-up is a whole other ball game and requiring pre-payment is simply a smart business move to ensure they are not left holding the bag.
I wish I hadn't read the minutes link. Quote one Caddo Parrish politician, "there's more than one way to skin a cat".Just a couple of thoughts on where Elio is right now.
GM Plant Purchase Proposal
Appraisal value of GM plant $4.5 million
Demolition cost of GM plant $8.5 million
..... excludes hazardous waste disposal
(from public records)
http://www.caddo.org/index.aspx?NID=426
Money spent by Elio
Approximately $60 million (per G1)
Includes 3 - 4 prototype vehicles
includes PR and touring
includes legal work with state governments
includes first prototype engine (to date)
includes planning work
(from web sites)
Someone needs to explain where money has been wasted or not spent appropriately.
It would not be unheard of for something like that to happen. Are you guys indirectly implying that IAV might be holding our engine hostage and that the official start up motor event might be on hold till Elio coughs up some $$$?
I wish I hadn't read the minutes link. Quote one Caddo Parrish politician, "there's more than one way to skin a cat".
That entire commission meeting discussion seemed like they were trying to find ways to allocate $7.5 Million of taxpayer money pre-maturely while working hard to avoid Caddo Parrish's liability should the project fail.
Elio has spent $60 Million? I thought Elio had hoped to net $60 Million from selling off the excess plant equipment after paying off their equipment loan with the proceeds from the equipment sales. There is serious lack of interest in the excess equipment to date and Elio has equipment payments due. Money spent thus far hasn't been wasted, but is it anywhere near $60 Million? I doubt it. Elio has made excellent progress when they had funding to manage. Little if any progress since the last delay announcement while waiting for a funding source to materialize.
"Dear Mr. Klindt,
I'm some random dude who follows Elio Motors. Can you please violate business ethical standards and discuss the financial information regarding said company? I'd sure appreciate it. I won't tell anyone else, I promise.
Regards,
Random Elio Dude"
I just sent this to him. I'll let you all know what I hear back.
Well? It's been 7 minutes. Got a response yet? They've had plenty of time.
They're obviously hiding something....I smell scam!
