Ended up 2nd in qualifying. Got picked and accepted the 1st place alliance. BOTH other alliance partners choked in the playoffs. They couldn't do anything. Our team played flawlessly, but you can't win by yourself.
Ended up 3rd overall. I can't figure out how the points work, but we should have enough to go to district championships in Maryland on April 6th.
It was a long weekend...
It's strange how, after winning 2nd out of 40 last week and 3rd out of 40 this week, winning two design awards, virtually assuring a place in the championships; yet it's pretty disappointing that we didn't win.

Congrats on making it to the tournament again! It's a rough game and many machines are limping by the time eliminations begin. Ours made it to match 17 before a corner of the frame collapsed.

We're only in year 3 of district play, but it seems that any team that seeds high and gets into eliminations twice has accumulated enough points for the district championship.

So you're not done, are you?

{EDIT} Oh, that's right. You got the chairman's award. You're going to the District Championships anyway. Nice!

Our second event is this weekend in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. We don't need more points for the District Championship, but they still count toward the World Championship in St. Louis. Points earned at the District Champs count triple!

And those points, Dist #1, Dist #2, Dist Champs, all combine to determine if you go to St. Louis? I think I got it. It's complicated.
Also, we won another design award for our targeting system, which, ironically, wasn't working, but there you go...

3rd place in the District so far, huh?
Nice showing. You made it all the way to the finals! Congratulations.
From the score, (175-142) it looks like that last match was incredible!

So do you figure you're good for St. Louis? We are currently 4th in the District with 113 points. I believe that they take 25 or so from our district. I don't know how this district model works, but it appears as if we'd better start making travel plans...

So the World Championship is in St. Louis again this year? VERY cool! I wonder how much longer though. Since the Ram's left town there's been all kinds of discussions on what to do with the Edward Jones Dome...Most say "level it".

Good question.

"Therefore, in 2017, FIRST will host two Championship events on subsequent weekends, – one event in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center, the Toyota Center (home of the Houston Rockets) and Minute Maid Park (home of the Houston Astros) April 19-22, 2017, followed by a second event the following weekend (April 26-29, 2017) in St. Louis."

"Beginning in 2018, our dual Championship will be celebrated in Houston, as described above, April 18-21, 2018 and on the second weekend in Detroit at the Cobo Center and Ford Field (home of the Detroit Lions), April 25-28, 2018. This alignment will continue for 2019 and 2020."
