You guys are thinking too small. The whole vehicle could be molded one shot. GM showed an electric "platform" that the body could be set on. Probably the biggest concern is safety. Afraid a plastic body would easily burn.
While I get what you're saying, and I'll use the Tesla Roadster chassis as an example, you can build a chassis that has all of the suspension and drive train attached to it, an injection molded body would not have the structural integrity to meet safety requirements, and over time will crack where the doors mount, and would have zero rollover protection without a steel and aluminum skeleton underneath the bodywork.

Self contained Tesla Roadster chassis.

So, what's the catch on this tiny new EV from Mika, which it's calling the Mino? Well, they're calling it a quadricycle, not technically a full car. That's how it can be such a tiny package, admittedly with fewer safety considerations than a traditional production car from a major OEM.

Interesting! If they would bring the top speed up to about 70mph and give it a little larger trunk and available a/c, I would consider one.... providing the price is right.

So, did a little research on Mika, and found they are currently building a gas version and an electric version of the Meyers Manx dune buggies from the 60's.

The beach buggie will run upwards of 100 MPH in the electric version and has a range of about 60 to 100 miles depending on how heavy your right foot is. It's about the size of a Smart Four Two, and they cost about £75,000.00 or $95,000.00 USD.

An article on the Mino

Sounds like the Mino will be a rather expensive commuter car with a 80 to 150 mile range depending on options, won't run over 56 MPH, and not have much in the way of space for anything other than a driver and a passenger.

From the article the Mino will be about the size of an original Austin Mini

Thanks for the info. It's about what I would expect from the British auto industry.... an over priced disappointment.
