Elio Addict
I can't help comparing the Elio to another recent start-up company who also scratch built their engine. In fact, rather than upgrading an existing engine design, they wiped the slate completely clean and began again.

Fast is good, reliability is more important to me, I'm waiting for the day I can get an Africa Twin.I can't help comparing the Elio to another recent start-up company who also scratch built their engine. 'only' 3 weeks...
I mean... I understand waiting to unveil everything at once, but allowing it to completely fall off the map is strange.
It seems to me that the engine (if it works as we're all speculating) is a huge milestone for them.
They could be trickling information to build/maintain hype, but they're not saying a word. That's just bizarre to me.
A 30 second teaser video wouldn't reduce the impact of the actual event, it would just build hype. It would cost very little to produce in terms of the press/excitement it would make.
Something like this, only with an engine.
This was meant to be a show for the public.... ahem, us.
Any investors who cared to see it run, sniff the oil pan, or caress the cam cover have long since done that.
How about a show of hands? How many of us think the delay built confidence as opposed to increased head scratching?
This is true, John, but potential investors will also be on the lookout for professionalism and competency and this episode that is not. Heck, if we are to take this at face value then just whose schedule was too conflicted for this? Not Paul's - he's on the total public relations treadmill. One or more board members? So I'm another investor and I see them acting all crazy and that's supposed to inspire confidence? Heck, they are the board. They had to have known about the event OR the PR group is bozo and didn't tell them (bad).

Sounds like he's frazzled like the rest of us to me.Sounds like Tony is feeling heat cause he is perceived as having made a bad investment by his peers.
And that being the case he is trying to fluff up his ego by showing us his business acumen.
