What is the "thing" on the right side? An 8-track player? Isn't this carrying "inexpensive" a bit too far?

Inexpensive? Have you tried to locate and buy a working 8-track player recently?

it lookslike for now this dash is going to be the standard but sales may mandate a change. it has some issues that now will be a hurdle to jump and the dash may just be another one. but i say after they make the first year run and it is time to make model changes the dash will go, or at least become an option that buyers can opt out of. i for one do not really like it and has been mentioned for us that may not be a reason to not get one but keep in mind he needs to sell more the 250k units to stay in business. plus how many other manufactures may jump into this in a year or so down the road and offer just what emi fails to offer. yes they have to keep it simple now and grandpa may have had a promise made to him, if i make it i will put this in it. but the sales will dictate what stays and what goes, we all know that is a fact, just look around.

Curious to where you got the 250 k units to stay in business figure? I did see where Paul Elio said plant can gear up to 250,000 units but nothing about that being a break even or profit demarcation point.

There is always a chance the Elio dash will become iconic like a Thunderbird's fins or Desoto grill because it is unique.

I find that almost impossible to read and find it much worse than the Elgin dash. But of course, you are used to it so you prefer it. I can understand that. :-) Z

You're seeing this at about 1/8 life size, and it's a bit fuzzy, as I said. It's not just that I happen to like it; it's effective design for the reasons cited often enough in this thread.

I am very aware of the size difference but I still do not like that design. It is similar to the one posted by Kuda and I find both of them very confusing to look at. However, if I were to buy a car that had either, I am sure I would eventually adjust to it. Z
