While you can argue that having a general investment rate higher than the rate of people here may indicate that there are still some "jokers" in the deck, here's another way to look at it:

Prospective Elio investors might have quite a different fiscal profile than prospective Elio owners.

That is, not everyone who might think this is a good investment may be interested in driving a $6,800 vehicle, and not everyone who is interested in driving a $6,800 vehicle may have that much to throw into an investment pool. I think there are sound reasons why the investment numbers should be higher than the average here.

Good point. People who have money they can invest may have no interest in driving around in a bargain basement vehicle. Similarly, people who see the need (not just the ones who have a want) for an Elio may not have thousands just sitting around to invest. I fit in that category.

We already have known that the Elio reservationist are higher incomes than some of the eventual buyers. So differences in income do play out with different actions.

Not necessarily true! How do you think they GOT the money to invest? Not all of them inherited it or won lotteries. (I can't do the one, too late for that, and definitely plan on the other!) I've known a number of extremely tight-fisted millionaires, and they were proud of it! Right, Mr. Scrooge?

That seems more normal -- and I really can't read the minds of people pledging $10K on such a flyer as Elio Motors. But it does look as though things may stabilize again -- for a while, even after the system would receive pledges, they didn't post -- no ticks for a full half hour -- now just onesie and twosies. I'd like to see us pegging along at, say, 35-40 pledges per hour, under $10 K for the most part. I'd feel MUCH more confident if that were happening.

Arlie is right. We are allowed to bid up to $500,000.00.
If I count only today's jumps
11:29 $1,501,000
11:17 $502,500
10:51 $501,500 =$2,505,000
They corrected a total of $2,475,974
Giving that that was some ligit bids in that time too. It looks good. I think the boys did it !!!!
This is quit the learning experience for everybody. Elio and start engine are really earning their wages today.
