I don't see EM being a one trick
pony. If they do pull it off the future possibilities are significant.....
I actually don't think they will sink in 3 years, I think Elio will be the low priced 3 wheeler, a fine niche, but I do believe it will be successful enough to lure in the big guys into the fray, I do think Honda/GM/Ford/Toyota etc will see it selling like hot cakes and want a piece of the pie, be it a higher end entry (think 3 wheeled Focus ST Ecoboost turbo). The only think that would kill Elio (after the first few years) will be complacency or some other mismanagement issue.
Heck if I thought they are going to fail I wouldn't have tossed in my reservation $, or my investment $. This is actually new territory and I am really waiting to see what happens to the automotive landscape in the next 5 years if this hits big.

The other thing that could very well happen, is if these get too popular, the gov't could start applying regulations on the autocycle. The reason these are autocycles is to get away from the veh restrictions. I can see this going away. Mandatory crash ratings, cameras, mirrors, emissions, etc.
Good bye 84 MPG. Good bye $6800.

I go back and forth on whether the big guys will get in this game. Part of me says, yes they will jump on this market and perhaps take it over - more expensively, as you say.
But part of me thinks that they will be happier with higher priced - higher mark-up vehicles and use Elio to buy CAFE credits from, there-by allowing them to stick with their low MPG high-mark-up vehicles.
The big guys (VW and Toyota) already have three wheeler concepts available and ready to roll out. Motorcycles and EM's autocycle do not qualify for CAFE credit sales and I doubt they ever will.

All of those regs and options you list may be self imposed and offered by EM. It will be interesting to see actual crash test results from crashing a couple E's. It certainly will be safer than any other motorcycle on the road.

The gov't could? When have they been able to keep their noses out of anything? What I'm really worried about is some useful idiot like Ralph Nader destroying them so they can write a BS book.

The auto cycle bill now in both houses of congress is specifically intended to define auto cycles and set safety standards for them. Personally, I think it's a good idea because it can only benefit Elio which is already committed to automotive-level safety standards.

It sounds like from reading an above interview comment that the ATVM loan approval is a primary funding source to get my one and only Elio onto the production line.

There may be another response already in this thread, but thought I'd chime in here Rick... in the Devin Thorpe interview yesterday, Paul said that there are two other funding plans / paths / sources in addition to the ATVM loan, that he's not at liberty to discuss, that may also bring in some funding. No way to know if those two other plans are for 10 million or 100 million. So I believe it's helpful to be hopeful, that even if the ATVM loan doesn't happen, the Elio still could happen. :tea:

Yes, but not necessarily auto level everything-else standards. Like emissions and mandatory back-up cameras, and I'm sure a whole host of other things that add unnecessary (my opinion) cost.

It looks to me the time has past to end this phase of 'testing the waters' that WAS scheduled to end July 31 and move on. Finish the crossing of the T's and dotting the I's and J's on that paper work, get it filed. I understand Elio wanting to collect email addresses of all the interested investors but we can clearly see the pool has dried up. Nothing was kicked in with that piss poor forbes interview. (Wasn't Paul charming?) Taking two or three more weeks to finish it is ridicules. No, I don't know what is involved, but they've been working on it since June 19th.
And the P-5 was started the first of June. Pictures or video would be nice. But, I'll be there next Friday/Saturday to see it and I have high hopes of doing so. I'm going to have my granddaughter (s) with me, so getting arrested isn't in the plans.
I'm with you, Lilly, put a 24 hr. count down clock on SE.
Inform people on the fence that if they don't pledge a minimum pledge and get their name in the hat, they won't be a part of the offering.
