Oh, I don't want any part of monkeying with an instrument cluster. I was just considering the head unit, and planned to use other known dimensions for a quick-n-dirty size estimate on the radio's faceplate. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, sorry about any confusion. That's good to know. I was thrown off by the arc on the left side of the faceplate (and possibly the right side, too?), and got worried it would be a non-standard unit without right-angle corners visible.

I know EM has stated ease of electronics upgrades is a part of the end goal- or at the least a selling point for the vehicle, but I just can't help but prod a bit sometimes.

I'm glad you said that. I actually like it. It adds a cool factor.
It's one more thing that makes the Elio unique, innovative, stylish and in a class by itself.
I like it a lot better than the cheap look of the Morgan side pipe configuration.

But I think it fires up latent OCD in most people.
They've been used to seeing symmetrical vehicles for too long.

Tell 'em that since it is technically a motorcycle, having pipes coming out just one side is normal...

Yes, it's curved on both sides. If you go into the configurator; go to the section the has the speakers and radio option; and click the I <eye> next to the enhanced stereo, it has a picture of it and the different modules.

Duh- sorry. (I couldn't get WebGL running in my browser- since rectified- back when when I first tried it out, and kind of forgot that MyElio shows more than the exterior render.) Thanks for reminding me, and for putting up with my fixation on the topic.

Superficially it appears that while the unit itself is a slightly odd shape, their render shows a separate, larger (red) panel around it, so I'd hazard that there will probably be simple fit kits for anything aftermarket. Should be simple enough, unlike the misshapen monstrosity from a relative's '03 Dodge that haunts my dreams and drives my disproportionate concern here.

Germaine; "Yah, the rocker's actually to be going away - Uh just because this here... this was actually before we made the transition from a (unintelligible) with a unibody frame and stuff..(unintelligible) with a roll cage ... E-bolts actually incorporate the uh, exhaust. Now since its unibody, we can actually make it flush.

So it technically will still be in the same spot, just not have the separate piece to cover it; and they can indent the frame to fit it closer in.
Now that makes sense. But wouldn't that put more heat into the cabin?

And the gas filler to the other side, that really never mattered to me either way; R side, L side, behind a taillight, on the roof, doesn't really make that much difference as long as it's easy to get to.
