Headline: G.M. Takes a Back Seat to Tesla as America’s Most Valued Carmaker
Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/10/business/general-motors-stock-valuation.html
"And President Trump has vowed to ease regulations and put cars at the forefront of his crusade to add manufacturing jobs."
"In a sign of how the industry’s future is being reimagined, the electric-car maker Tesla passed G.M. on Monday as America’s most valuable auto company. With its stock gaining more than 3 percent for the day to $312.39, Tesla has a market capitalization of $50.9 billion, just a hair ahead of G.M.’s. "
"G.M. is hardly alone in being outshone by Tesla among investors. A week earlier, another century-old Detroit icon, Ford Motor, fell behind Tesla in market value. And Fiat Chrysler, the parent of the third Detroit automaker, is so uncertain of its own future that it is actively seeking a merger partner.
But G.M. epitomizes both the frustration attached to the old American auto industry, and the determination to prove the skeptics wrong over the long term."

ME: Tesla got a jump start using DoE money which has been repaid. Where is the DoE, ATVM loan money for Elio? The Trump administration has not replied to my letter. My thread https://www.elioowners.com/threads/letters-from-trump.8245/ has no letters from Trump. What is wrong with "this picture"?
The following comment seems to discourage Elio owners from contacting government representatives:

"How can I help in my state?
As always, we are honored that our fantastic supporters reach out and ask how they can be of help. At this stage, our legislative team has it covered. The biggest way our supporters can be of help is to continue to spread the word about us! By the way, we will and have called on supporters in certain states in the past and may do so again, if needed."

I think part of the issue is that Tesla was already producing the Roadster when they got the ATVM loan, for use to develop and produce the Model S. While they were not making a lot of Roadsters, at least they were making something that could be sold. I think if Elio Motors was producing a hundred Elios a month and wanted the ATVM loan to expand, I bet they would be getting a lot more attention from the DoE.

Maybe those will be the "pursuit" vehicle for the Arizona troopers.
Ford now has several hybrid Focus pursuit vehicles in the LA sheriffs dept. for testing.
2019 for delivery at 60K$?

Here's another possible contact for you. If you choose to email, I wouldn't include links in case of spam filters. If you call, well all the better. I email them every 2-4 weeks.

Taking information directly from Tesla's announcement about the cost of using their supercharger network now, https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/12/tesla-supercharging-prices/

It looks like the 2,777 trip in a Tesla will cost you $120 if you use their stations. My Elio, at 84mpg, will make that trip for 33 gallons of gas, which, at the current rate of $2.04/gal, will cost me $67.44. That individual traveling across country may be surprised to know that his 14 "fill-ups" will take a little more time than my Elio's 4 stops. Man, electric on long trips isn't looking all rosy.

The good news for me and the majority of current and or future EV owners is that 90% of our driving will be short commutes using at home charging outlets.

And 90% of future EVs will have gone the way of the Edsel...
You have a keen sense of humor. Total Edsel sales approximately 116,000 units. The Tesla Model 3 currently has 400,000 pre-orders. With those numbers, I anticipate future EV sales to increase dramatically and that one day you may even be driving a model EVElio in the make America smart again messaging on the value of EVs and alternative energy vehicles. :)
