Yes, 2 doors removes one more barrier regarding a safety concern debate and broadens the likelihood of market acceptance of an enclosed three wheeler commuter in the USA markets.

It will also increase efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs of a mass produced commuter vehicle for the worldwide markets.

The added door didn't add cost to the MSRP. It likely will save cost by simplifying the manufacturing process. AC is a $1K option so we can have both 2 doors and AC.

I suppose you could remove the Solo's doors and sell them as replacement parts as a cost savings measure.

It says my number 556 has an anticipated delivery in Q2 of 2018 and closes the letter by saying they can't wait to hand me the keys! Along with the letter is a 11x11 poster of a designer rendered SOLO signed by him. How cool is that! :cool:

The history for this kind of product out of Canada has been spotty, but better than the US.
Just like the us a number fail to appear, but some have. In these cases the early reservations have been fulfilled. But a fews years down the road the business failed and orders were not. However I've not heard of anyone loosing very much money over it, not that I monitor such things for Canada.

Just double-check the import process. It should be a lot easier than gas powered 4 wheelers. I suspect you will just need an inspection in the US. The windshield maybe one of those items you'll need some paperwork for. Or did they say they have a US importer to handle licencing?

The pre-production Solo #3 was sent for USA Compliance testing a few months back. Jerry Kroll said the certification process was going well with an official announce soon, perhaps at the Vancouver Autoshow. There are planned US Solo Stores with the first opening in Seattle by the end of the year according to Jerry. Importing this EV should not be an issue.

Also, EMV's Chinese motorcycle manufacturing partner expects to manufacture and deliver 100,000 Solo's to their Asian market. The Solo marketing plan goes well beyond North American markets.

There in lies the issue of a potential safety debate. The 2 doors simply reduce manufacturing cost, doesn't add cost, and eliminates any question by any potential customers regarding the convenience and possible safety issue of only one door.

I admit to feeling 'psychologically safer' being able to enter/exit the vehicle from either side, should a single door side be obstructed I can exit from the opposite side with 2 doors, if I roll my Solo on it's side or broadsided, I can exit the opposite door quickly and conveniently, not having to break a window or crawl out the back hatch.........providing I'm still alive.
