OK... Let's see here...
The front looks like the punisher skull.
That I like.

It only goes 56mph.

Safety? The entire top half looks like Tupperware with no frame inside.

The base model gets 50 - 65 miles on a charge.
The upgrade gets up to 100 miles on a charge.

The base model costs more than the Arcimoto base model.

Despite the fact that both the base and the upgrade are both two seaters...
The upgrade costs almost as much (in USD) as the Canadian ElecM Solo.

The Solo tops out at 85mph and also has a 100mi range.

"About 300 of the rear-drive 2-seater vehicles have been manufactured to date."
Since 2009?... Really?... Then again how many Elios, SRKs and Solos have been made since 2008?

Looks like it might have an uphill battle with it's competition (after Sept. 9th of course).

anywhere
Hmmm, about $14k with the bigger battery pack. And only getting 100mi out of it. I think it's not got that high of a top speed either, so more of a city-urban vehicle. Always wanted to see more of the Sam by Cree.
Definitely looks better in black in a kind of Vader-ish way.

The perfect Solo cruising tunes will be: Eric Carmen's, All By Myself, De LaSoul's, Me, Myself, and I, and Neil Diamond's, Solitary Man. :)

"If you’ve been sitting on a deposit for some other car that hasn’t yet arrived, and there are many of you in the United States, please email us a copy of your reservation today, and we’ll put you in line for a SOLO and honour your deposit as a discount for up to $1,000.00 It seems like both a fair and proper way to get people onto Team SOLO. Finance rates have been quoted to us as around $75 bi-weekly, which is amazing, especially if you consider that you’re not buying/burning gas anymore!"

Who’s excited?!

Sincerely,

Jerry Kroll, CEO

That's a good marketing strategy by Kroll, but the Solo is not going to appeal to the typical Elio fan base. I doubt it will generate much reservation interest. The bi-weekly payment plan and NMG sounds interesting.

IMO the point of the offer is this...
Yes, the Solo is also primarily an "and" commuter vehicle. Even more so because it's a single seater.
And, being RWD, it will most likely be even less capable of handling ice and snow than the Elio.

I think the logic here is that IF the Elio is never produced (of course it will be)...
You'd kind of feel like you didn't really loose your $1K non-refundable because...
That deposit will have been responsible for saving you $1K on an alpha Solo.
Recently I heard someone put it as (I think I've got this right) "hedging my bet".
I think the offer is for people who've been thinking about the Solo to begin with.
It might even prompt some curious early Elio adopters to take a closer look.

The Elio's range makes it more than just a commuter vehicle.
For some, RWD, a 100mi range, and the thought of saving a lot in fuel costs works.
For others, it doesn't. There are existing orders for using Solos as delivery vehicles.
And ElecM has already stated that they're committed to improving the range...
On existing and future Solos by keeping up with improved battery tech.

One of the important issues here is that even though it's still 6 days to the official launch...
Limited quantity Solo production has already begun. ElecM will auction off vehicle #1 on Sept. 10th.

I've included a link to production EVs and Hybrids and their basic specs.
I was shocked to see how poor the electric range is on these vehicles.
Compared to the existing EVs out there, and considering their prices...
So far I'd say the carbon fiber Solo commuter is a heck of a bargain.

Even more so @ $1K off.

A fantastic offer for those that like the Solo and feels it meets their everyday driving needs. Krolls offer is generous indeed with a simple $250 refundable reservation making it a no risk alternative for those that can't wait on other concepts. I've been waiting 8 + years for an enclosed three wheeler. The time is now.

Wow, a carbon fiber body and state of the art lightweight composite frame..........even if you don't like the fun little commuter EV or it doesn't meet your needs ya gotta respect and appreciate the Solo's state of the art engineering specifications and the team's determination to get it engineered, designed, and custom built with $3 million in private venture capital using the start small and scale philosophy.
