I wish I could use swamp coolers here in Kentucky, but the humidity precludes such notions.I thought I would just post something in the DIY thread, as the forum has been a bit quiet, lately.
When you have an older home its a never ending string of projects. Being cheap, I try to use up what I have in stock -- before spending any money. I had an unopened tube of automotive seam sealer from another project and some scrap metal (roof flashing type metal) in stock. Being this is a static application, I thought welding on a patch was overkill (plus I'm a horrible welder), so "gluing" it made sense (to me). I'll coat the inside of the pan with the appropriate "cooler coating" and hope for the best.
We save quite a bit of money on electricity by running an Evaporative Cooler over the Air Conditioner. My "MasterCool" uses about 75% to 85% less electricity than my A/C unit. It does require a bit more cleaning than an A/C unit, but I like "little projects" during the summer -- keeps me out of trouble (LOL).
As for Elio -- I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with @Mel -- gone!!
I had hopes for the BEX Mongrel, but those are fading. After 3 months of no posts/activity from Mark, I really don't know what to think.
Next project -- change the oil in my girlfriend's car. She loves that old Dodge!!
Yeah, Swamp coolers are HELL on tools!I wish I could use swamp coolers here in Kentucky, but the humidity precludes such notions.
Wow, who would of thought, little plastic parts would wear out, lol. My 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis is running great. Knock on wood. Pamela is doing great. I am putting up 2 - 3 pounds of mozzarella a week. Life is great, here at the hobby farm.I've been chasing a very intermittent EVAP leak on my girlfriend's car. I've replaced the gas cap and wanted to do a visual inspection of the whole EVAP system. In doing some research, I found out others are having issues with a leak detection pump. So I crawled underneath just to see what I could see. I found these two broken plastic hose clamps on the leak detection pump hoses. I don't know if these could have been the problem or not, but I replaced them with metal hose (jubilee) clamps.

We'll see if the code comes back or not. I've got some time to play with this issue, as we have about 18 months before the car has to go back through emissions testing for tag renewal.
