Maybe the entire rear skirt could be replaced with a spare tire receptical molded into it, along with some more attractive lines.

It might not be something that I (personally) would do, But I think it would look great on a Custom "retro" Elio.No......Good Rendering of a GOOD Idea

Mount it just aft of the cockpit, put a dome on it, use appropriate paint scheme, and you have yourself a Naboo Starfighter, complete with its own droid.Like this? Except maybe with a solid cover over it?
