He's said no such thing. Since the capacity for towing won't be built into the program if you tow you will be using it in a manor not intended by the manufacturer. He has said just the opposite, he pretty much said it could be done but they would not program the computer to allow it to be done.
Not true. The mfg company has no liability except in cases of mfg defects. It's your responsibility as the operator to know the limitations of the vehicle you are in control of.And the first time one gets in an accident the company who made the receiver looses everything.
As long as the tongue weight weigt is a few more pomds heavie than the weight on the trailer wheels it won't sway..i get a kick when I see a suv or van pulling uhauls with the tongue sticking up 6 inches swaying all over the place when being passed buy a truck =I also expect to see a lot of aftermarket accessories for this vehicle. Just look at what is available for the Can-Am Spyder which is a relatively low production vehicle and you can only imagine what will be available for this vehicle which should be made in much larger numbers.
I agree that Elio owners won't be towing a heavy trailer with these vehicles as it just will not be possible but 300 lbs or so should work just fin
If your trailer is level and has just a few more punds of weight on the hitch ball than on the trailer axel it won't sway.. I get a kick seeing people pulling u hauls with the tongue of trailer so high swaying side to side when being passed by trucks and cars.. Sway control only kicks in if the trailer goes wacky..I agree that Elio owners won't be towing a heavy trailer with these vehicles as it just will not be possible but 300 lbs or so should work just fine.
Motorcycles may have more power however they also face severally limited towing capacity also due to their own light weight and final drive gearing.
That's absurd. Tell that to McDonald's. I'm sure they'll be glad to know what they wasted paying out a lot of money to someone who didn't know their limitations in handling a cup of coffee. Not true. I'm not arguing capacity. From a legal standpoint it's over. Ask your insurance company...

I've put trailer hitches on geo metro convertibles, ford escorts, and my little Fiat PoP.. All said not intended for trailer towing in manual..However.. they all had the holes pre-drilled from the factory to add a receiver hitch.. just about every front wheel car sold states in manual not intended for traileringI'm not arguing capacity.
