My sources tell me there is no gas cap, just a small thimble that is filled with an eye dropper that has a funnel type hose directly dripping into the engine. Each Elio will come with a one ounce Mason jar to use as a gas reservoir to hang from a fake rear view mirror for infrequent refills..
LMFAO!!!!- great stuff!!

My thinking is that Paul and company have squeezed every last dollar out of the vehicle and suppliers that they can and are still $300-$400 short of the goal of $6,800. To make good on the price they've been quoting for literally years they're probably forced to make some things options that were originally going to be standard. For those who want a low cost basic commuter it won't matter. To those of us who intend to option the hell out of the vehicle anyway we've just got a couple more options to add to our list.

Very well said Mark, and I couldn't have said it any better myself. -- Cheers --

I suspect that's true for many, if not most, components .... however, from what has been released, they haven't finalized decisions on a good number of things .... brand, type, exact color of paint and tire rims come to mind .... I suspect that they will continue to work to save every penny possible .... it will be interesting too see just how much the pennies add up to

IMHO I bet they could save a few more dollars by installing a cheaper dash than the Elgin......

Unfortunately for all of you who don't like it there really is no money to be saved on the dash. Apparently all they did was replace the needle on a standard analog gauge with a spinning dial which snaps into the same place the needle goes and then calibrate the movement slightly differently which they would do anyway to make it fit the style and movement the vehicle manufacturer wants. The rest of the gauge cluster is merely idiot lights and that central multi-function display all of which would be there anyhow. Everything you see on that gauge cluster truly is off-the-shelf just like they said it would be and any variance in price, if any, would likely be measure in cents not dollars.

My source is busy right now offering advice to the Democrats and Republicans and to Lindsey Lohan and the Kardashians. I'll get with my source later but since the engine is under the hood, the thimble should be on the hood. Perhaps under a hood scoop? Known fact that "white lightning" can be used in cars.
Ask your source if we should beef up security in Bengahzi... nevermind.
