That is an engine "test" stand. The engine can be started and run, but not loaded. As I understand it, EM missed out on the dyno "time slot" (November?) that was available and the next available is coming up quickly. That engine may be on the stand getting tuned for the "official start" on Feb. 6th. Just a guess.Dyno testing? Who are the kids?
John, I have seen your postings on FB and it seems that if Elio posts any new info it is there. Where did you obtain the picture?
I didn't notice they'd missed the dyno testing. As I understand it, EM missed out on the dyno "time slot" (November?) that was available and the next available is coming up quickly.
Yes it is a test and run stand. Typically the dyno is connected to the out put shaft from the crank to a drive or hydraulic pump. But notice in the front of the engine. There is a hydraulic pump connected to the pulley. This is the "out put shaft" from the front rather than the crank that goes to the transmission. This appears to be the pump that will go to the dyno test stand to load the engine. under the sheets could be the test instrumentation. Go on the internet and do a search for dyno test stands and you will see many different setups based on the engine size and test requirements. Also notice it is bolted to the floor. The test instrumentation must be under the sheets and moveable. That is an engine "test" stand. The engine can be started and run, but not loaded. I could give a rat's butt about Paul. I want him to succeed for ME and Only me! O.K. maybe the other 39,999 + reservation holders too.Having been an accountant for small business all my life, and having seen a large majority of small business start ups fail, and having heard all kinds of start up dreams and sales pitches, I interpreted the level of risk very high (somewhere in the junk bond range). But I believed in the idea being presented by Paul (and still do), and believed in the way he was approaching getting this business off the ground (and still do), and seeing Paul's bulldog determination to make this work , I still think there is a better than average chance that we will be driving our Elio soon. I see this like, the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. I'm comfortable with my risk. If I lose my investment here I will still play golf tomorrow. I would very much like to see Paul succeed in getting his idea off the ground. More so for him than for me. I think the Elio's time has come. JMHO

And here is RickB offering to give you one!The last time I saw a rat's butt is when Fidel Castro turn his back to me and farted.
