Question are there more people than me starting to think this is not going to happen? I'm very positive person and still believe I will be driving my new elio in 2015 probably 4th quarter. Does anybody have any updates about anything to give me hope ?

Hi John, you bet, I've got some updates. I don't know what you know already, but here's some things that might give you hope:
  • Info from a tour attendee: the engine may be ready by end of July; not sure what "ready" means, but signs of progress are always good
  • Reservations have exceeded 24,500; more reservations has nothing but good implications; the proposed limit of 40,000 reservations for the first year of production will be arriving by end of 2014, if the daily reservations continues to be in the 100 range
  • Reports of funding-so-far are rising as time move along, plus EM sounds very confident that funding goals will be met
  • EM on Facebook has said that there will be ride and drive events around the time of start of production for reservationists
  • Fleet sales division started in EM: http://www.autorentalnews.com/news/story/2014/07/elio-motors-launches-fleet-sales-division.aspx

Just in case you aren't aware, there is a News button to click on at www.eliomotors.com, they have most of the interviews and articles there.

Hope this helps!

Maintain hope through the end of Sept when the prototype build is planned to begin. If that doesn't happen as promised.........capital Y Yikes! Elio needs the first one built to begin tooling up for the planned 2015 production Schedule........the others for the ride and drive tours and testing is my understanding.

I can understand where as time goes on doubt can creep into your mind. Unfortunately Elio Motors is just in a phase where most of the goings on are behind the scenes work done on computers and in meetings by engineers and business people. Some of what is happening right now is they are completing engineering on the next prototype, working on the getting the engine completed and tested, planning for crash and road testing once the design is cleared for the pre-production run, fundraising, and performing many other planning tasks which must be done for such a large scale project.

As others have said things should start to pick up in the August/September timeframe when we expect to see a real Elio engine undergoing static testing and a P5 prototype being assembled. This should be followed by the building of a whole series of pre-production vehicles starting in the fall which will be used for crash testing and on road vehicle development getting everything finalized for production.

Well said!
I don't "know" this, but if I were planning to build 25+ "production" models (IIRC, they are not calling these "P5's), I would start (right now) making the molds for the body panels, and building enough inventory on EVERY assembly needed to produce all of them. This may be why actual production won't start for a few months. That doesn't mean they won't be busy!:eek::eek:;)

I think Team Elio is simply involved with the necessary little tweaks on styling, engineering, and parts options required for the base $6800 production Elio. Finalizing all the little details required for the Aug/Sept build to begin, which is in plenty of time to meet the 2015 production schedule. Like Goofyone said.......seems slow right now but should explode with activity when the engine is ready to drop into the production build prototypes. I'm guessing behind the scenes business model development to include plant setup, sales and servicing strategy, marketing, and fundraising is currently bustling with activity.

I am sure EM is already working on the acquisition of various components which will be needed however some things will just have to wait until they complete the P5 prototype. They are supposed to move rapidly into the E series pre-production builds however what I have been told, as well as seen reports from others stating the same, is that the P5 will be used as the basis for much of the tooling used used to complete the pre-production E series components and sub-assemblies. This process is why EM is saying we will not see the P5, as we have the other prototypes, as it will quickly enter testing and be used to assist E series production.
