indubitably

Here we are a bunch of gearheads talking about words. What's next? Boxers talking about philosophy?
If Y.A. Tittle, famous quarterback, could have a PhD in philosophy, I imagine some boxers (at least early in their careers) could do the same. And besides, we all know dogs can play poker, so why not?

Can't fault your analysis of the usage, but if they are as old as most of the folks on this site seem to be and still don't get it you're wasting your time.
Some of us learn these errors young, and cleansing them is really hard to do. And there's really no motivation to clean up one's linguistic act. Not today, anyhow. Most of us just don't consider what our words actually mean.

I used to get kids saying, in writing, stuff like "for all intense porpoises," when they meant "for all intents and purposes." They had just never listened accurately, and absorbed what they had heard without considering its actual meaning. It's a doggy-dog world!

.... But I have to tell you, skillful use of English marks you socially. ....
From personal experience? So does using too much of it.

Now this is fun, if I left it like just that, the inference is I just insulted Ekh about talking(writing) too much. I actually was not at all. I just seized on an extraneous non sequitur point and couldn't let it go. I'm a Sagittarian , we do that, a little too much.
