Welcome to Elio Owners! Join today, registration is easy!
You can register using your Google, Facebook, or Twitter account, just click here.Okay folks. I don't know how the rest of ya'll drive your vehicles, but I fly by VFR (visual flight rules), and rarely check the instruments while I'm on the road...unless "Johnny Law" shows up on my radar. My eyes are on the road, road hazards [debris] and the idiots around me (yes, I assume they are/you are [no offense] all idiots and out to get me!). It's served me well, and saved my ass more than a few times. If you're "freaking out" over a tach and speedo [I'm more concerned about engine temp and oil pressure], that may or may not be difficult to read, or the design of which makes you so sick to look at that you can't focus on the 'task at hand', then please DO NOT drive your Elio in a 50 mile radius of the St. Louis, MO metro area...you're way to distracted over silly crap, and a danger to myself and others...you might as well be texting and driving while drunk.
Here's a little saying that may help if you're losing sleep over this topic.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change [The Elio's coming with an Elgin dash, get over it].
The courage to change the things I can [If you can afford a replacement that's acceptable to you...do it!]
And the wisdom to know the difference [If you can't afford to swap the dash...refer back to the first sentence].
Well. I've got "everybody and their cousin" coming to my house in a few hours for Christmas Eve, and need to help the wife prep for the 'chaos' and run to the store to pick up a few things. If I don't get back to the site today, I wish everyone a very merry Christmas!![]()
Did I say I had a preference? No, but I will wait to pass judgment until I actually see the finished product in action......
Single pilot Night IFR.
I want my needle gauges.
By then it will be too late...
It's not going to change....no matter how much people complain it will be the Elgin dash.....so complaining without seeing the working final model is a waist of time/energy.
I'm sure Jobs and Wozniak would wholeheartedly agree with you ... NOT! HP passed on the chance to build and sell this microcomputer their engineers had dreamed up, because it didn't fit with what the management insisted their customer base wanted. Jobs and Wozniak ended up building a computer (the Apple I) that looked and did what THEY wanted. It showed in the design and function of the final product and (most of) its successors. The fact that the Elgin dash has created so much controversy and passion should tell Elio that they should take a second look at their decision to use it.
"The secret to failure in a business is to sell only what "you" like." ( An old saying I just made up.)
Altho I agree with most of your post,The only thing I might change at this point (judging by videos only) would be to make the dials at least 10% but no more than 20% larger.
