It doesn't look like you struck a nerve unless you've been getting nasty personal messages. I was simply pointing out that they aren't intended to replace a rear view mirror... I did the camera and monitor in my Nitro for under $50, took about an hour to put it in; that's where the price can go crazy, if you can't do the work yourself, you're at the mercy of the shop that does it. Prices can range from $75 to $300 laborThe backup camera comment? It doesn't look like you struck a nerve unless you've been getting nasty personal messages. A walk-around is a good idea to make sure kids didn't leave bikes/scooters behind the car, but my kids just LOVE to run putti the driveway to get one more hug/kiss before I head off to work, and also to greet me when I get home. They can show up at the car before I even realize they've left the house.
The way cars/SUVs/trucks are designed these days, there seems to be less visibility around the rear of the vehicle. As cheap as rear view cameras are, and since almost all new cars already have the video screen inside, it shouldn't add a noticeable cost to most vehicles.
