That looks like a lot of fun, but you'd be into $10K (figuring 3 drivers, doing it for free) without the car, crew, spares, traveling expenses, hauler and all of the items you need for the car (fuel cell, etc.).
The car would be the least expensive item.

The idea of racing is not at all strange. The biggest problem in racing is cost. It is very expensive. Racing classes can be made for anything including stock or near stock elios. I firmly believe if the elio makes it into production, which I believe it will, there will be a lot of racing with the elio.

I totally agree! And I can't wait until they are!...well,i guess we all can wait. But, I don't think Roush's involvement has anything to do with racing..... at this time. One step at a time. I'll bet the creative minds at Roush are literally "racing!" :drum:

I am surprised a company would take the legal risk. In case of an accident, a lawyer would argue these are not fully developed vehicles because they are "preproduction", not production vehicles. A lawyer would also argue that Roush's continued involvement is another indication the development is not complete.

If they are willing to take the legal risk, I strongly suspect they are not in California.
I would assume that if the intent is to sell, don't you think EM's lawyer/s (I'm also assuming they have legal counsel) would have thought out all the possible ramifications of selling their so-called pre-productions? Can we really assume that EM will actually release an incomplete product to unsuspecting buyers hoping nothing worse will happen??? I think PE and his people are a lot smarter than that! I think Roush was brought in to speed up the process, to look out for possible problems that could occur from the E-series build, solve it and move on to the 100 limited run...the #1 of which will be re-tested again in real world before the rest are assembled and eventually released to their buyers. Problem solved! Then again, what do I know?:D

You are referring to a post I made when someone said two commercial companies would buy the 100 vehicles and used them in adverse conditions. I asked that poster where the information came from and received the reply "No .comment". I have since gone back to my original suspicion of these 100 vehicles being used for racing.

For those of you who were wondering, I checked. The E-Series cars are of course being developed as per schedule. The fleet cars are for commercial users, and there will be at least two Fleet operators involved in the first 100 test. I was told that the 100 fleet vehicles would be exposed to very severe service conditions. They will not be swooping along the interstate for the most part.

Also, there are no plans to change the design of the car to increase storage space. The production car will have exactly the same amount as the P5.

from what little I know, this makes sense

Is this why I have never received and email from EM telling me about selling 100 vehicles to someone else ahead of me who probably does not have a Spot In Line? Were they afraid this would make me and others upset after all these delays?

(If they have a Spot In Line, it probably would have been mentioned.)

Roush knows what will work for ELIO that's why they're on board knowing fully well that EM still does not have the money to see this project through. The only thing that concerns me is Roush transforming Elio's ride for the better comes with a higher price tag. If Roush will be running the show, and I assume (again) that they are, it will be about making it better, stronger and last longer so, PE can't say, "hey, we can save this much money buy using only this much rivets or screws, etc. ". :D

That's it. I'm changing my Elio from a crawfish to a crawlfish.

Sooo... you want to make it something like this:

Well, to each his own...
